Valentines evening with Ray Lewis from Drifters

On the Valentine evening I had a pleasure to visit Denham Golf Club to join Ray Lewis and his team on their performance. It was a great evening with delicious 3-course meal and good music and dance. I was impressed by the interior there and enjoyed every minute of the show. The main ball room was decorated with heart balloons and red roses around.
For that special evening I choose beautiful burgundy lace dress from my favourite Ted Baker accompaniment by Lulu Guinness Lip frame red bag and black patent Miu Miu wedges.

On the Ball it was also exhibition from the Japanese Doll festival
Hinamatsuri (雛祭り Hina-matsuri), also called Doll's Day or Girls' Day, is a special day in Japan. Hinamatsuri is celebrated each year on March 3. Platforms covered with a red carpet are used to display a set of ornamental dolls (雛人形 hina-ningyō) representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period.
Families generally start to display the dolls in February and take them down immediately after the festival. Superstition says that leaving the dolls past March 4 will result in a late marriage for the daughter. The custom of displaying dolls began during the Heian period. Formerly, people believed the dolls possessed the power to contain bad spirits.
Hinamatsuri traces its origins to an ancient Japanese custom called hina-nagashi (雛流し?, lit. "doll floating"), in which straw hina dolls are set afloat on a boat and sent down a river to the sea, supposedly taking troubles or bad spirits with them. The Shimogamo Shrine (part of the Kamo Shrine complex in Kyoto) celebrates the Nagashibina by floating these dolls between the Takano and Kamo Rivers to pray for the safety of children. People have stopped doing this now because of fishermen catching the dolls in their nets. They now send them out to sea, and when the spectators are gone they take the boats out of the water and bring them back to the temple and burn them.

The Drifters are a long-lasting American doo-wop and R&B/soul vocal group. They were originally formed to serve as a backing group for Clyde McPhatter (of Billy Ward & the Dominoes) in 1953.
Ray Lewis former lead singer of The Drifters which joined the team from 1980-1988.
Afterwards he started his solo carrier.
Ray found he simply had the passion to sing whenever and wherever he found himself.
He settled in the UK – enjoyed taking time to start slowly with his solo career.
Alongside his solo shows – touring extensively around the world …. He then formed a group called ‘STILL DRIFTING featuring RAY LEWIS’ in which he performs with 3 other talented vocalists and pays tribute to the hits he enjoyed with the Treadwell’s Drifters. The group pay homage to those still with us and those whom have passed away.
Ray enjoys world-wide fame thanks to his own unique voice and professional and charismatic aura.
Besides his role in the group, he is still concentrating on a solo career and has performed to sell out theatres and audiences in venues around the world, having been associated with great names like Carole King, Whitney Houston, Lionel Ritchie, Paul McCartney and Diana Ross. Without doubt, he is one of the world’s greatest entertainers and enjoys a large following.
2009 saw Ray finally step out and make the decision to record a solo album – it has taken 4 years, there have been tears and laughter, joy and some misery but after much work ‘DID YOU EVER’ was released on March 4th 2013 – a new era for Ray has followed with rave reviews following a huge round of press & media publicising the album.
This energetic and vibrant vocalist is second to none …he is now embracing a new generation and just as excited now as when he began all those years ago.

Teal and turquoise as a fashion inspiration

What is the different between teal and turquoise colour ?

Teal is a medium-saturated, blue-green colour, similar to medium green and dark cyan.
It can be created by mixing blue with green into a white base, or deepened as needed with a little bit of black or grey colour.

Turquoise  is the name of a greenish blue colour, based on the gem of the same name. The word turquoise comes from the French for Turkish, as the gem was originally imported from Turkey. The first recorded use of turquoise as a colour name in English was in 1573.

Definitely teal is much darker version of bright turquoise but they both mixed blue and green but in different saturation.

Both colours are used regular in the fashion industry .
Also mixing of blue and green is a very popular too.
Today I will show what I have mixed and how this look

My beloved Isabel Marant fringe poncho on white bohemian cotton simply top from Birger et Mikkelsen with Juicy Couture blue jeans with beads and Miu Miu turquoise geometric sunglasses.
Also Australia Luxe cosy and comfy boots which could easy be swop by Miu Miu flower high boots but my comfort won this time.

To show properly the teal accent in the fashion I have decided to wear peplum LK Bennett Jetta  crepe jacket worn by Kate Middleton Duchess of Cambridge. Perfectly selected piece of clothing for her royal duties special as this colour match nicely  her brown hair and the belt show her slim waist and skinny figure. Very chic, classy and elegant with matching skirt.

Femininity and unexpected detailing is key with the Jetta jacket, part of the Jetta suiting system. Beautifully tailored with a belted nipped waist, this peplum crepe jacket features delicate kick-pleat detailing. Long sleeved, it looks lovely paired with the Jetta skirt for a chic office option, or paired with jeans for a sophisticated causal look.

My personally designed and created art fashion gallery includes the lovely jacket which could be worn in different ways. Winter way is with LK Bennett leather pants and vintage jacquard unbranded scarf in teal and purple shades finished with fringe and matching fur hunting inspired hat or velvet purple old fashioned one with ribbon and bow on. I could not forget about Miu Miu geometric sunglasses and Miu Miu hand crafted boots. I have found also unique costume plastic flower necklace from Marni in similar shades. All accompaniment nicely and sophisticated.
To show the proper aristocracy inspiration and  look We went to the Holland Park to see the murals.
Garden Party in the Grounds of Holland Park, 1870 by  Mao Wenbiao
Date painted: 1994–1995
Oil on canvas, 290 x 190 cm (estimated)
Collection: Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Holland Park
These murals show an imaginary scene from one of the garden parties which used to be held by the Earl of Ilchester in the grounds of Holland House in the 1870s. The costumes were carefully researched and the artist has included portraits of many of the Friends of Holland Park (who commissioned the murals) and their friends, so that each face is of a different and real person.
The intricate design of the garden is echoed by the equally intricate costumes of the ladies parading around it. The post-crinoline fashions of the 1870s reached a kind of zenith of the elegant and the impractical which fits very well with a formal garden on a sunny day.
To feel comfortable I swop the boots and worn mine old riding black boots from Russell and Bromley.

Would you like to sit with me on my bench ?

and on the end beautiful and delicate dusky pink lace lingerie set on a teal background with Misaki  complementary pearls.
